I keep messing about with my travel fee. You might know that my policy has been to just say NO if people want to book me outside of the towns within 10 miles of my home. EVERY time I have said yes to one farther away, I get at least one request for a job in my own back yard! For me, I would rather charge less, and stay close to home. That is what works for my life_style_. But, it was ticking some customers off that I did not want to travel. So, I put up a travel fee, _base_d on mileage. No one took me up on it, which is fine, because I don't want to travel anyway. I got a call from a lady in Baldwin Park a few days ago. She said, Why are you going to charge me to come to Baldwin Park, when Azusa is right next door, and you don't charge them! Good point. So, I just changed it again. Now I am experimenting with this (see it at my page
http://www.funfacepainting.com/travelfees.html Travel time charge of $2 per mile from the 91711 zip code EXAMPLE: If your event is in Temple City, mileage is 60 miles round trip. Add $120 to my standard fees. If your event is in La Verne, which is 8 miles round trip, the additional travel time fee would be $16 I will verbally tell those who call from my core cities, like La Verne and Upland that I will waive the travel time charge. FYI, I do not call it mileage because they are paying for my TIME to get to them (the gas is much less imporant to me). Time I could be doing gigs at home instead of driving to them. I did a gig yesterday, they wanted me to go to Santa Monica! I said, I have lots of wonderful friends down there I could suggest, as I had a rather heffty travel time charge. She asked what it was, figured it was $150, in addition to my fee. She had no problem it - and obviously lots of money. So, we shall see. - Lilly
