I don't think anyone really takes the law-is-subject-to-god arguement all that seriously. Even Catholics (of the non- fundamental leaning) consider some of the tactics of the pro-life movement in the last referendum slightly tasteless. Says who? The (thought to be) blanket ban on abortion was passed 70-30 %, with a 55 % turnout. Then again, the fact that rural areas have a higher turnout than urban will swing most nationwide votes.
