Check into the Franschhoek Manor before visiting some of the wine farms in the area. This Manor is nestled amongst the majestic Franschhoek peaks and offers a variety of recreational activities. We shall supply information on the various farms and estates. Enjoy lunch whilst viewing the valley below. Dine this evening at one of the countrys top restaurants. This town known as the Wine and Food Capital of the Cape. OVERNIGHT AT THE FRANSCHHOEK MANOR DAY 02 FRANSHHOEK - STELLENBOSCH - FRANSHHOEK After breakfast, depart for Stellenbosch which is the second oldest town in South Africa. It is renowned for its vineyards and orchards, its university and restaurants. Again we shall supply you with information on the various farms to visit. After lunch, have various options: visit the Jean Craig Pottery Centre where you are able to see the various stages of production and purchase items from the shop; visit the Dombeya Farm which is a woolshop of knitting, handweaving, jerseys and an indigenous rock garden. Stop off for tea in the garden setting. visit the Wiesenhof Game Park where you can observe the Cheetahs and enjoy the activities available (boating lake, swimming pools, roller skating rink and many sheltered braai spots). There are many outdoor sport and recreational activities available for the angler, cyclists, mountain bikers, horse riders , etc. For those interested in the arts, enjoy an open-air performance offered from November to March. OVERNIGHT AT FRANSCHHOEK MANOR DAY 03 FRANSCHHOEK - BONNIVALE - ROBERTSON - MONTAGU Depart from Franschhoek and travel to Bonnivale. Visit the Bonnita cheese factory which is the largest of its kind in the country. Continue onto Robertson which is situated in the fertile Breede River Valley at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains. Here you can experience wine estates e.g. Graham Beck Wine Farms, and some of the Capes best Shiraz wines, etc.; hiking trails; nature reserves e.g. Dassieshoek N.R. which offers a wide variety of fynbos, proteas and beautiful scenery; Sheilam Cactus Garden; and racehorse stud fams. Enjoy a luncheon on one of the Farms. Depart for Montagu where you have an option to stop off at the Kotze Farm for an hours horse trail up the mountain side with an experienced guide. Pass through Cogmans Kloof from where you can view the old English Fort above the tunnel (1899) and enter the village which lies at the start of the Little Karoo. It is the centre for wine and fruit production and is noted for excellent muscadel grapes / wines. Check into the Montagu Avalon Springs Enjoy the natural hot spring pools, the saunas, gym, jacuzzi, turkish baths, hiking trails up the mountain, etc. OVERNIGHT AT MONTAGU HOT SPRINGS DAY 04 MONTAGU - DE DOORNS - SADAWA NATURE RESERVE After breakfast, check out. Depart at 0930 for a scenically wonderful tractor ride up to the summit of the Langeberg of the Mountain with views of the river and winelands below. Return for a potjiekos lunch. After lunch, depart for De Doorns which has a Wine Cellar having the longest pressing seasons in the world. You have an option to visit De Doorn Wine Cellar known for its sherries, semi-sweet white wines and young red wines. You also have an option to visit the Sonskyn Nursery which houses 8000 rose trees which are in bloom from October to May. Travel for a further one hour to a Private Game Reserve, Sadawa Nature Reserve. The cost includes accommodation (in either chalets, tents, or sky viewers), 3 huge and satisfying meals, 2 teas, game drives, game stalks and walks. Sadawa is situated on 16 000 ha with the Lodge built around a natural oasis in the middle of the Little Karoo Desert. Take a walks to view some Bushmen paintings.
